FREE ENTRY FOR KERALA BLASTERS FANS FOR FRIENDLY
The ISL finalists need the support of their
vociferous fans and have allowed free entry to their friendly for all those in
Yellow, besides launching fan-oriented programs...
Kerala
Blasters are India's most supported Indian Super League (ISL) franchise.
Hailing from the port city of Kochi, the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned team is the
pride and joy of the sea-side state that has produced footballing talent of the
calibre of I M Vijayan and Jo Paul Ancheri.
Now, in a
first of its kind, the ISL finalists from season one have opened the
floodgates for their fans. The Blasters' Facebook page have revealed details of
an upcoming friendly match, which will be played at the Green Field stadium in
the capital Thiruvananthapuram, on the 29th of September, i.e today. That's not
all. The fans who wear Yellow T-shirts for the game will be allowed
free entry to the match.
The good news
doesn't just end there though as, in a separate post, the Blasters have
revealed their intentions of having fans, numbering close to 100 or
more, live commentating all their matches using the popular social media
platform Twitter. The details of the plan are still being fine-tuned and we can
surely expect more fan-oriented programmes from the southern team, who are also
in the midst of promoting their hastags #YellowMeinKhelo and #KeralaLive.

SANDESH JHINGAN HAD PLAYED AN AWESOME SEASON AT KERALA BLASTERS AND HE WAS SELECTED TO THE SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM AND HE PLAYED AND PROVED HIS WORTH WITH AN STUNNING PERFORMANCE VS ASIAN GIANTS IRAN .MEAN WHILE ANTONIO HABBAS WAS AWARDED AS THE BEST COACH IN ISL WHILE FORMER KERALA BLASTERS FC STAR IAN HUME WAS THE BEST FOREIGN PLAYER OF ISL
sachin is a great motivator at kerala blasters fc says ishfaq ahmed
Ishfaq Ahmed's role at Kerala Blasters will not be limited only to the playing but it is going to double up this season of the Indian Super League (ISL) as he is the assistant coach to Peter Taylor.
Kerala Blasters finished runners-up last time around and Ishfaq believes they have every chance of lifting the trophy this time around after being unlucky in the finals against Atletico de Kolkata last season.
The Blasters lost 1-0 to Kolkata in the dying moments of the title clash bit Ishfaq says it hasn't hurt the team's morale, which is where it should be. "We have the potential and players to go all the way this season. Players are positive ahead of the season and the dressing room atmosphere is fantastic," the assistant coach told IBNLive.
"The Indian contingent is gelling well with the foreign players and both are helping each other settle in ahead of the new season," Ishfaq said during a telephonic conversation.
The former Pune FC (I-league) midfielder is amongst the players retained by the Kochi-based franchise for the second season and now given the added responsibility.
When asked how are their preparations going ahead of the season that kicks off October 3, he sounded pretty confident and said the pre-season camp went brilliantly and the plan is working fine at the moment. "We are loving every bit of the moment in Trivandrum. Although everyone took time to get used to the food, eventually we have coped with that and enjoying our pre-season training. Everything is going according to the plan and the coaches and players are happy with the proceedings.
"The fitness level is being tested and most of the players are ready for the first game. We we are confident that everyone will be ready before our first game of the tournament," Ishfaq added.
Kerala won just one of their first five matches in the league last season and were expected to be knocked out but the team, co-owned by star Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, fought back and peaked at the right time to make it to the final.
When asked about the influence the legendary batsman has on the team, the midfielder was full of awe and admiration. "It is a huge honour to be around Sachin Tendulkar. He just loves sport and that motivates everyone. He is easily approachable and is ready to share his views.
"Last season, ahead of the final, he was very positive. He said 'just go and enjoy your game and never put yourself under any pressure.' He told us that winning and losing is part of game and that we have to give our 100 per cent out there.
"After we lost the final, he still had a smile on his face and talked to each and every player and consoled them. He is always there to motivate the players and his influence in the dressing room is very very positive," Ishfaq said.
Taylor has been named the manager of the Kerala outfit for the new season. The 62-year-old Taylor, who had coached the England senior team for a match, was at the helm of the England youth team for a long period. He has also coached David Beckham and Ishfaq was all praise for him.
"Some players know him before the ISL, so the understanding is there. He is treating every player the same and his experience will surely help the team in the new season. He's a top-quality coach and we are looking forward to the new season. His man-management is top draw," Ishfaq concluded.

SANDESH JHINGAN , FUTURE OF INDIAN FOOTBALL SAID INDIAN FOOTBALL LEGEND BAICHUNG BHUTIA
FOOTBALL LEGEND BAICHUNG BHUTIA SAID THE MEDIA THAT SANDESH JHINGAN IS GOING TO BE THE FUTURE OF INDIAN FOOTBALL .
India were excellent in defence. It was few lapses in concentration that cost them dear. Iran came at them when they least expected it, but cannot be an excuse. As Indian coach Stephen Constantine put it, "Iran scored when they weren't supposed to score. Two goals in five minutes killed us. We cannot afford to make such mistakes. We lost focus and concentration." Perhaps, that's something Jhingan and his men at the back could learn from the game.
BY IMPRESSIVE FOOTBALL HE WAS AWARDED AS THE EMERGING PLAYER OF ISL SEASON 1 , WAS AWARDED BY THE AIFF FOR THE BEST YOUNG PLAYER AND IS BEING ON THE SHORT LIST FOR THE EMERGING PLAYER AWARDED BY FPAI.
SANDESH JHINGAN IS AMONG THE FEW INDIAN MILLIONAIRE OF ISL.
HE PLAYED VITAL ROLE IN KERALA BLASTERS FC LAST SEASON AND HE HELPED THEM TO REACH TO THE FINAL SPOT .
SOON AFTER THE ISL HE GOT A CALL FROM INDIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM AND HE PLAYED TOO AND HE PROVED HIS WORTH IN THE GAMES ESPECIALLY AGAINST ASIAN FOOTBALL GIANTS IRAN.
. Asia's top ranked team had as many as five shots on goal in the second half alone, but then India defender Sandesh Jhingan foiled as many — if not more — chances. It is safe to say Jhingan played the game of his life. The 22-year-old, who began his career at United Sikkim, has battled his way into the national side, sometimes fighting opponents and mostly fighting himself. In a sizeable portion of the five years of his senior career, injury has laid him low — even during the two qualifiers against Oman and Guam.
But given his impressive outing against Iran on Tuesday, it appears Jhingan is now here to stay. "I picked Sandesh for my team when he was 17," Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia told Mirror on Wednesday. "I immediately realised the kind of character he has. He's someone who is physical, strong with the ball and quick in the defence. Playing for United Sikkim and training under the coach here, he quickly learnt how the way the world plays and moulded himself on those lines.
If there's anyone in India who has the quality to play abroad, then it has to be Jhingan." Against Iran, Jhingan led the virtual six-man defence (with two midfielders always hanging out at the back). There were several moments when Jhingan stood at the centre and marshalled his teammates, blocking Iranian raids and pushing back when the opportunity afforded it. For most of the time, Jhingan himself shouldered the burden, throwing himself in the path of an Omid Ebrahimi shot or an Andranik Teymourian move. When Iran's 'Messi' Sardar Azmoun got too close, Jhingan slid his way in to clear for a corner. At other times, he neatly anticipate Vahid Amiry's crosses and headed it away.
"A defender may be big and he may be good with tackles but he also needs to have a footballing brain to anticipate where the ball would move or what the opponent player might try to do," said Bhutia, Jhingan's long-time mentor at United Sikkim. "I feel Sandesh has that quality in him in a way that he was ready with a block every time Iran made an attempt on goal. It's something that he picked up by experience — in United Sikkim, Mumbai FC and most importantly at the ISL last year, where he was the best Indian in the league."

Indian Super League: Marchena likely to miss Blasters’ opening tie
Carlos Marchena - Deportivo de la Coruña
The Kochi-based franchise suffered a massive blow as the Spaniard is unlikely to be available for the first game…
Kerala Blasters were the last team to kick-start their pre-season preparations for the second edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).
Also they are the only team not to have travelled abroad for their pre-season training. The finalists of last season had pinned down to John Arne Riise as their marquee signing before the Norwegian chose to join Delhi Dynamos instead.
In a last ditch attempt, the club roped in Carlos Marchena as their star signing but were dealt a massive blow as the former Valencia defender suffered an injury at their training camp in Trivandrum.
“He has travelled to Spain for treatment. We are awaiting to hear if he will be back for the first game against NorthEast United,” informed a source close to the club.
It must be noted that Riise switched to Dynamos after Blasters had signed all of their foreign players with coach Peter Taylor having made most of the signings keeping in mind that the former Liverpool full-back would be a part of his side.
“Obviously, that did hurt us bad as we had planned our team with him and we had to make some adjustments thereon. However, we were lucky to get Marchena who is a good player,” the coach explained.
Taylor stated that Blasters were lucky to make it into the final four of the competition last year as they scored the least number of goals.
“We scored nine goals in 14 games and were fortunate to be a part of the top four. Obviously, we had a lot of cleansheets which helps. But I would definitely like us to score more goals. Sanchez Watt can be unstoppable if he has his way,” Taylor mentioned.
Blasters face NorthEast United in their first game and Taylor highlighted the need to start the season on a positive note.
“Last year we didn’t start well and this season, playing in front of our fans, we want to do well as a good result will boost our confidence. I’m looking forward to the experience of playing in Kochi.
“I am expecting all teams to improve from last season and our aim is to at least reach the finals again. Our players are fit and nearly ready for the ISL. We have a lot of versatile players in our squad and that shall certainly help to beat the fatigue due to the schedule as we play games very soon,” he further explained.

Indian Super League 2015: English striker heaps praise on Kerala Blasters fans
Indian Super League 2015: English striker heaps praise on Kerala Blasters fans
English striker Chris Dagnall, who joined Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters ahead of the second edition of the ISL, believes the fanbase of the franchise is as huge as the fanbase of some of the top clubs in the United Kingdom.
The former Barnsley striker also believes the Indian Super League has the potential to become one of the best leagues in the world in the next three to five years.
And the growing fan support for the league holds the key to that growth.
"I don't think you get more demanding fans [anywhere] than you get in the UK," Dagnall told ISL's official website. "I think across the world they are probably the most demanding fans you can get, they are always on your back, for you or against you every week.
"But as far as I believe of fans over here [Kerala Blasters], they support you 100% whether you do bad or good so I'm looking forward to that.
"And people told me you get over 30,000 fans a game, I'm looking forward to that support behind me every week. I don't feel nervous, I feel excited to play in front of Kerala fans and hopefully it will be a good experience."
When he was asked about the potential of the ISL, Dagnall, who scored four times from 11 appearances in the FA Cup in his career, was positive.
"I know it's the second year coming now. I think the atmosphere, the crowd, and the attention that the ISL is bringing us after the first year is going to increase every year. And now the percentages will match other leagues in the future, I think after a few more years I don't see why not," he said.
"I think the attendance they got after the first year is unbelievable. Could be because the fan base of Kerala Blasters is broad, it could be one of the biggest in Europe. So I don't see why in the next 3, 4 or 5 years why it can't be one of the best leagues in the world."
The 29-year-old striker also heaped praise on Kerala Blasters coach Peter Taylor, and said that the team are going to benefit a lot from the insights of the former England U-21 and Crystal Palace manager.
"Well, he's managed [me briefly] and I played for Bradford City a couple of years ago. But apart from that I've never really played under Peter Taylor until we got in contact during the summer but I spoke to quite a few lads who have played under him and they say he's a top-quality coach," Dagnall added.
"He likes to be informed on a day-to day-basis, his man management is top draw. So I am really looking forward to playing under him and I'm sure the Indian lads and the other foreign lads will get to know what a top quality coach he is.
"His record speaks for itself, I've been here two weeks but his coaching has been brilliant."
